Abstract
A method of realizing broadband and low-loss negative index metamaterials (NIMs), which is composed of the triangular electromagnetic resonators (TERs) and wires, is presented in this paper. By comparing with the NIMs constituted by traditional split-ring resonators (SRRs) plus wires, the novel TER-wire structures exhibit a broader regime of negative index with comparatively low-loss. The parametric retrieval, prism simulation and transmission experiment results all validate the above conclusions.
