Abstract

In this paper, a novel wideband sleeve dipole array antenna with high gain and good omni-directional radiation characteristic was proposed for mobile communication applications. The dipole sleeve was made up of outer with conical gradient structure and inner sleeve with cylinder. The measured results of the proposed array antenna show the gain more than 8.2 dBi at 2.5 GHz, and the return loss less than −15−15 dB in the frequency band from 707 MHz to more than 3.3 GHz. The mechanism and the main parameters, such impedance bandwidth, and radiation patterns are also discussed herein. The study shows that the novel wideband sleeve dipole array antenna can be varied to be suitable for GSM/DCS/WCDMA /CDMA2000/ TD-SCDMA /WLAN (2.4–2.483 GHz) applications.
