Abstract
A formulation of the noise-to-power ratio (NPR) using the orthogonalization of the nonlinear model is performed. The analysis (coupled with simulations) is used to study the applicability of the NPR as a measure of in-band nonlinear distortion in wide band code division multiple access (WCDMA) systems. Simulated NPR of WCDMA signals is compared to that of narrow band Gaussian noise (NBGN) where it is shown that NPR using NBGN overestimates in-band distortion of WCDMA signals.
