Abstract

In this paper, the effects of actual smart antennas on the Power Doppler Spectrum (PDS) are studied when smart antennas are deployed at the base station (BS), employing a statistical Gaussian Scatter Density Model (GSDM). This proposed approach is general and it can be applied to omnidirectional and sectorized antennas as well, for beam patterns of linear and circular arrays, the results obtained are compared with those for omnidirectional and sectorized antennas. The characterization of PDS is presented for channel scenarios including different motion direction, scatterer spread, and a variety of beam patterns.
