Abstract
Orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) transmission is the technology of choice for fourth generation (4G) wireless networks (802.16, 3GPP and 3GPP2). In both uplink and downlink directions, resources can be allocated in three dimensions, frequency, time and power. The uplink resource allocation problem is more complicated due to the limited transmission power of the subscriber stations (SS). In this paper we consider the uplink resource allocation problem for generic OFDMA wireless networks and derive the optimal scheduler taking into account constraints, such as quality of service (QoS), that were not considered in previous works.
