Abstract
We present a general criterion for near bent functions to be bent on a hyperplane. Let n=3k±1 be odd and let d=k4−k2+1. We show that the Kasami–Welch function Tr(xd) is a bent function when restricted to the hyperplane of trace 0 elements in Fn2.
