Abstract
The classical and T-adic exponential sums associated to a Laurent polynomial are studied. An explicit polygon is proved to be the generic Newton polygon of the C-functions of the T-adic exponential sums. It gives the generic Newton polygons of the L-functions of p-power order exponential sums.
