Abstract
We introduce a novel application of all-optical half-wave rectification in the transportation and delivery of multi-frequency radio-over fiber signals. System evaluation was performed of transmission over various optical fiber types and all-optical envelope detection was implemented to achieve error-free frequency down-conversion of ASK signals modulated on 10 GHz, 16 GHz and 40 GHz carriers. Transmission power penalty of less than 1.5 dB was observed after 25 km SMF and 80 km NZDSF.
► Demonstration of multi-band support at 10 GHz, 16 GHz and 40 GHz. ► Fiber transmission over optical access network. ► Colorless implementation, suitable for PON implementation.
