Abstract

Nanoscale computing systems are expected to be based on bottom-up self-assembled regular structures, such as a crossbar, and rely on reconfigurability to achieve functionality and reliability. This paper presents the first purely carbon nanotube and carbon nanotube transistor based nanoscale computing platform, and several variant CNT crossbar-based nanoscale computing platforms with different device integration, cell granularity, and logic families. These nanoscale computing platforms are evaluated by SPICE simulation based on Stanford compact CNFET model and 16 nm CMOSFET Predictive Technology Models. Further presented are floating-gate transistor arrays (FGTAs), which enable reconfigurable CMOS static logic, achieving improved logic density, performance, and power consumption compared with LUT-based reconfigurable logic.
