Abstract
The EU's environmental package for the IT sector aims to increase the level of recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. Its broad scope encompasses IT hardware, regardless of whether it is used for commercial or domestic applications. This article provides an overview of how one part of that package, the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (“RoHS”) Directive (2002/95/EC), will be applied in the UK from 1 July 2006.
