Abstract

Credit card issuers in the UK are very wary about the consequences of the recent decision of the UK Court of Appeal which stated that the statutory protection of consumers in relation to purchases made with a credit card extends not only to purchases in the UK, but also when made overseas. As credit cards are the dominant payment method on the Internet and many UK consumers buy from overseas websites that decision is potentially of great significance to eCommerce in the UK.
