In the domain of process systems, quantification of the magnitude of resilience is still elusive. This paper provides general formulae for quantification of system resilience properties for an amine regeneration column, used in regeneration of Di-ethanol amine solvent in a Gas Sweetening Unit. The modulus of resilience (Ur) is found to be 8.0 KJ/m3-sec for variation of mass in-flow rate of sour feed gas into the upstream absorber column. Computer simulation technique has been used for evaluation of the resilience properties. Regenerator operating capacity range of 80%-100% is found to be the most thermodynamically efficient flow regime. Moreover, like a material, resilience modulus (Ur) of the regenerator is found to vary inversely with its modulus of elasticity (Esys).
