Abstract
‘Sudoku’ is the Japanese abbreviation of a longer phrase, ‘Suuji wa dokushin ni kagiru’, meaning ‘the digits must remain single’. It is a challenging numeric puzzle that trains our logical mind. Solving a Sudoku puzzle requires no math, not even arithmetic. Even so, the game poses a number of intriguing mathematical problems. In this paper, a novel technique is proposed to generate only the desired permutations among minigrids that can be used to solve a Sudoku puzzle in an efficient manner.
