Abstract

Contemporaneous business organizations face process operational effectiveness and efficiency challenges for being successful in the current competitive global markets. For such aim, BPMS technology has provided support for deployment and monitoring BPM environments in the last 15 years. Rarely, the development of business process-oriented software systems (BPoSS) has been guided by diverse proprietary or ad-hoc non-standardized methodologies. Thus, for BPoSS, in contrast with other types of software systems, well-structured and standardized development methodologies are still missing. We believe that such a knowledge gap must be addressed. Therefore, this study introduces SDM-BPoSS (Systems Development Methodology for BPoSS) as an approach to a well-structured development methodology. BPMS practitioners and academicians are expected to be benefit from our approach.
