Abstract

This paper presents the results of the optoelectronic characterization of a PIN stacked photodiode based on a-SiC:H that works in the visible range of the spectrum. This work aims to study the viability of using the device in short range transmission using Plastic Optical Fiber (POF). For this purpose four input channels (RGBV) were used as input optical signals and it was analyzed the influence of optical steady state violet light on the output signal. The output photocurrent was measured under the presence and the absence of the background radiation for four different binary sequences, with different modulation frequencies. The optical gain obtained from the exposure to background radiation and its raising times was calculated, for each channel and for each modulation frequency. The results show that the background radiation has a different impact on the different channels.
