Abstract
We continue with the study of biconcepts initiated in [C. Alcalde, A. Burusco and R. Fuentes-González. The use of two relations in L-fuzzy contexts. Information Sciences, 301:1-12, 2015]. We provide a new characterization of the biconcepts and describe their relationship to ordinary formal concepts. This enables us to demonstrate that their semantics is quite unnatural and explain why their occurrence in data is scarce. In addition, we propose two alternatives to the biconcepts. We perform experiments on both synthetic and real life data to indicate the occurrence of biconcepts and the proposed alternatives.
