Abstract
In IEEE 802.11e wireless local area networks (WLANs), it is well known that a feedback signaling for bandwidth allocation can help to increase bandwidth utilization. In order to evaluate feedback-based quality of service (QoS) scheduling in IEEE 802.11e WLANs, an analytical model is presented in this paper to calculate the rate of packet losses as a consequence of violation of their delay limits. Furthermore, an enhancement is proposed to reduce packet losses by speeding up the feedback signaling. It is demonstrated from both analytical results and ns-2 simulations that the packet loss rate can effectively be reduced under the proposed enhancement and more capacity for video flows can accordingly be obtained.
