Abstract
⺠A new particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed for a reliability optimization problem. ⺠The problem is to maximize the system reliability considering multiple component choices. ⺠The Metropolis-Hastings strategy is used as a local search engine to enhance PSO. ⺠The performance of the algorithm is comparable with some previously proposed methods. ⺠The proposed algorithm fully outperforms other versions of PSO.
