Abstract
Simulation governance is discussed from the perspectives of formulation and application of design rules in structural, mechanical and aerospace engineering. The key technical requirements are described in the context of what is variously called validation pyramid, building block method and validation experiment hierarchy and illustrated by an example.
► The contents are an elaboration of the invited presentation by the first author at HOFEIM 2011 in Cracow, Poland. ► The paper addresses the problem of simulation governance and explains that new technical requirements must be satisfied by software tools used in simulation governance. An example is presented. ► These new requirements cannot be satisfied by conventional FEA software tools.
