Abstract
We consider the problem of finding a design with minimum compliance using a SIMP material. In particular, we present a method to obtain competitive designs that do not include composite like material distributions. The idea of this method is to modify a necessary condition for the optimal design of an object. We prove that the modified condition defines a design and present numerical solutions.
