Abstract
► We document the volumes of paid and unpaid consumption for movies in China. ► We find that three quarters of movie consumption is unpaid. ► Using two surveys from 2008 and 2009, we estimate the rate of sales displacement. ► We find small displacement rates: 0.14 in one sample and 0 in the other.
