Abstract
⺠We examine the impact of internet file-sharing on sales of recorded music and sales of tickets to live performances. ⺠We document evidence that file-sharing increased demand for live performances. ⺠We show that the effect is most pronounced for small artists, and that the effect is negligible for large, well-known artists.
