Abstract
► We argue that the impact of copying on the supply of copyright works is essential for a welfare analysis. ► In the German record industry, the number of copyright works supplied increased with digital copying. ► Consumption time also increased with digital copying, suggesting no reduction in the quality of supply. ► We discuss explanations for this counter-intuitive result.
