Abstract
⺠The strength of players in the second stage depends on the result in the first stage. ⺠The discouragement effect holds when the weak player is sufficiently weak. ⺠Rent dissipation in the first period may be large compare with a one shot game. ⺠An initial advantage of a player is amplified under certain conditions.
