Abstract
In our hospital group, pharmacists have developed an online drug formulary. The on-going updating is made possible through the link to the pharmacy management software. The drug formulary also provides a link to the summary of product characteristics for each drug. Following this dematerialization, we have evaluated the use of this online drug formulary by physicians and nurses. Over a 26-months period, the mean number of visits was 219.6Â per month. Drugs are mainly searched by the International Non-proprietary Name (INN) or by the trade name. This study shows that physicians and nurses use our dematerialized drug formulary. The number of visits is strongly influenced by communication. Therefore, a more targeted communication could increase the number of consultations.
