Abstract
The essay analyses a conflict between Andrei Belyi and Ivanov-Razumnik caused by political disagreements. Andrei Belyi was inclined to collaborate with the Soviet authorities while Ivanov-Razumnik considered this position as subservient and condemned it. In addition to this analysis, the article includes a hitherto unknown letter by Andrei Belyi (written in 1932), from which the main reasons for the dispute between the writer and the literary critic become clear.
