Abstract
The nonlinear flexural response of functionally graded plates under different transverse loading is investigated using multiquadric radial basis function (MQRBF) method. The mathematical formulation of the actual physical problem of the plate subjected to mechanical loading is presented utilizing Levinson shear deformation theory and von Karman nonlinear kinematics. These non-linear governing differential equations of equilibrium are linearized using quadratic extrapolation technique. The effect of the volume fraction exponent on the nonlinear flexural response of simply supported and clamped plates under uniformly distributed, sinusoidal, line and point loads is studied.
