Abstract
In this paper, quadratic cardinal B spline functions are used for solution of 2-D large deformation problems. Because the B spline functions are directly used in function approximation, no meshes are needed and the mesh distortion issues in nonlinear analyses are avoided in this method. Using the B spline functions, the solution formulations based on total Lagrangian (TL) approach for two dimensional large deformation problems are established. The numerical examples of 2-D large deformation problems indicate that the B spline method is effective and stable for solving complicated problems.
