Abstract

The dynamic stability of a pre-twisted rotating blade having asymmetric aerofoil cross-section subjected to lateral parametric excitation is studied by using the finite element method. The Bernoulli–Euler theory is employed in the analysis. Solutions referred to as combination resonance are investigated. The effects of coupling due to centre of flexure distance from the centroid, rotation and the stagger angle on the stability are considered. The change in these effects due to pretwist angle is investigated. It is concluded from the results that the pretwist angle has an influence on the effects of coupling and rotation.
