Abstract
A new nano-sized copper (II) complex, [Cu(L)] with the reaction between 2-((E)-(2-(E-5-bromo-2-hydroxybezenylideneamino) methyl)-4-bromophenol [H2L] and copper(II) acetate was prepared and characterized by some common spectroscopic methods and X-ray crystallography. The structure of [Cu (L)] was studied by theoretical method (DFT) and the results are in good agreement with the experimental data. Nano-sized CuO was prepared by thermal decomposition of nano-sized [Cu (L)] metal complex. The antibacterial activities of ligand, nano-sized metal complex and its nano-sized metal oxide (CuO) have been screened against various strains of positive and negative bacteria.155
