Abstract
Mononuclear copper(II) complex [CuL2] and two mononuclear mixed ligand palladium(II) complexes of the type [Pd(X)(L)] where HLÂ =Â 2-(methylthio)phenylimino)methyl)phenol and XÂ =Â benzoate or salicylate have been synthesized and characterized. Structural data shows both the Pd(II) complexes have distorted square planer geometry whereas there are two molecules in a unit cell in the Cu(II) complex-one molecule has square planer geometry and another molecule has distorted square pyramidal geometry. Tridentate NSO donor ligand acts as bidentate as well as tridentate ligand in the complexes.185
