Active contour model driven by local histogram fitting energy

► We present a local histogram fitting energy for active contour model. ► A varying kernel width is applied to compute fitting histogram in order to avoid local minima of the energy functional. ► Three inequalities are introduced to decide whether the kernel width is appropriate. ► Fast level set and a method to reduce the number of histogram bin are utilized to speed up the method.
