Abstract
⺠Depending on different molecular conformations we obtained a bended nematic and antiferroelectric smectic regions using a two-dimensional model. ⺠We complemented the Onsager theory with the elastic free energy of Frank to explain the defects. ⺠A satisfactory agreement was obtained from the Onsager theory and Monte Carlo simulations.
