Abstract
Radiogenic helium from the Pu-239 α-decay accumulated in the fcc Pu-Ga alloys in the form of nanometer-sized bubbles cause pining of edge dislocations impeding their sliding. The results of molecular dynamics simulations evidence that accumulated helium bubbles are the main factor affecting strength properties of the material during long- term storage.313
