Abstract
New experimental results on the Fe-Sn-Zr phase diagram at 800 °C are presented, particularly in the central, Fe rich and Sn rich regions of the Gibbs triangle. Seven ternary alloys were designed, produced and examined by different techniques: optical and scanning electron microscopy, semi-quantitative microanalysis, quantitative microanalysis and X-ray diffraction. The results of this work and previous experimental data were used to determine the phase diagram section at 800 °C which contains at least five ternary compounds: Fe6Sn6Zr, Y, Xâ², θ and C36.
