Abstract
The growth of a novel nanocomposite consisting of Poly Vinylidene Di Fluoride (PVDF) and copper doped zinc sulphide (ZnS:Cu), its realization as flexible freestanding films and its application prospects as a bluish green phosphor form the essence of the work presented in this paper. PVDF is a semicrystalline fluoro polymer with the repeat unit of CH2-CF2.The photoluminescence emission characteristics were investigated in detail for various concentrations of ZnS:Cu in the nanocomposite films. The highlight of the present work is the observation that these luminescent films can be easily peeled off to yield free standing films which are quite stable and flexible.
