Abstract
The Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope was launched into low-Earth orbit in June 2008. The Large Area Telescope (LAT) is the main instrument onboard the Fermi satellite and is designed to be sensitive to gamma rays in the energy range from about 20 MeV up to more than 300 GeV. During its first seven years of operation, the LAT has provided an increasingly detailed portrait of the Universe's most extraordinary phenomena. Some of the main results obtained by LAT in the field of gamma-ray astrophysics will be illustrated.
