Abstract
The bbâ¾ production cross section has been measured by the PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) in p + p collisions at s=200 and 500 GeV. In the absence of displaced-vertex b-tagging, dilepton continuum pairs provide a unique opportunity for b-quark production cross section measurement. We report two independent preliminary analyses of bottom quark production measurements using unlike-sign dielectron pairs measured in the rapidity range |y|<0.35 and like-sign dimuon pairs measured in the rapidity range 1.2<|y|<2.2. The extrapolated total production cross-sections agree with the NLO pQCD theory calculations within the uncertainties.
