Abstract

The magnetic field in aluminum reduction cell has been calculated using ANSYS. The results reveal that the magnetic field lines are concentrated in the cell wall, the magnetic field calculation and optimization design of the aluminum reduction cell may give full consideration to the influence of the ferromagnetic material. The range of BX, BY and BZ is -0.047079∼0.145203 T, -0.044584∼0.228538 T and -0.183056∼0.19401 T in the aluminum, respectively. The range of BX, BY and BZ is mainly -0.183111∼0.346607 T, -0.446917∼0.514886 T and -0.349813∼0.225395 T in the electrolyte, respectively. The range of BX, BY and BZ is mainly -0.01961∼0.035327 T, -0.014237∼0.01611 T and -0.015469∼0.026428 T at the interface of melt in the aluminum reduction cell, respectively. The magnetic field in the aluminum reduction cell forms a clockwise swirl along the Z-axis, and it strengthens in the corners. The vertical magnetic field value of the aluminum reduction cell is slightly higher, so the magnetic field of the aluminum reduction cell will be re-designed.
