Abstract

This study discussed the application of the creative thinking teaching method to a 16-week basic design curriculum with 4 lecture hours per week provided by the Department of Commercial Design in a Technology University in Central Taiwan for the freshmen from Class B. Through individual discussions, the students’ individual differences in learning were considered when guiding them to perform paper-format picture book creation using their professional design abilities. Then documentary analysis was applied to collect, organize, and analyze related existing documents as references of this study. Finally, the students were asked to create an electronic picture book using computer graphics software and give an oral report. 2 teachers specialized in design were invited to score these works, in hopes of inspiring the students’ creativity and improving their practical abilities.
