Abstract
The global initiative for the eradication of polio strives to fight against the transmission of this infectious disease. Immunisation has brought about significant improvements in the epidemiological situation and the disease is currently endemic in only three countries. The latest plan for the eradication of polio was published in 2013. A certain number of constraints means the actions undertaken are insufficient.
