Abstract
Heart failure is defined as the inability of the heart to pump an adequate supply of blood to ensure the proper functioning of the organs. It may be left-sided heart failure, which is more common, or right-sided heart failure. The different treatments for heart failure enable the patient to regain an acceptable quality of life by reducing notably the initial symptoms, as well as by preventing complications and successive hospitalisations due to cardiac decompensation.
