Abstract
Overall remaining PF of current protectors often and quickly exceed supposed limits of bone fracture strength, particularly in elderly people. Therefore, sufficient safety does not seem to exist yet and protectors must not be overestimated in their protection potential. Protectors should have a certain thickness of at least 15 mm preferably with viscoelastic material in combination with a hardshell. HP for sports still show large deficits. BP only protect against direct contusion but not against axial compressions or cervical spine.
