Abstract
A posttraumatic Haglund exostosis of the tuber calcaneal tuberosity is a rare clinical entity, which presents itself with a prominent bulge and pain over the heel. This Haglund syndrome-like entity consists of an exostosis with retrocalcaneal bursitis and an insertional tendinosis of the achilles tendon. Clinical diagnosis can be accompanied by MRI. Conservative treatment involves a modulation of daily activities, physiotherapy with excentric exercises, insoles and/or oral non-steroideal antiinflammatory medication. If symptoms persist, aurgical therapy consists of a removal of the Haglund exostosis, local debridement and sometimes refixation of the Achilles tendon. An augmentation using a tendon transfer may be needed.
