Abstract
In this paper, an overview of an Illuminator Of Opportunity (IOO) passive radar research project being conducted at DSTO is presented, with a specific focus on the signal processing research directions that are being investigated. The overview provides a discussion on the selection of transmitters as well as a description of the multi-channel receiver. The signal processing research direction discussion will cover such topics as: the development of a computationally efficient approximation to the 2D Woodward cross-ambiguity function; improving the cross-ambiguity SNR by exploiting the transmitted waveformʼs inbuilt Forward Error Correction; as well as signal processing means for suppressing the LOS and strong clutter interference.
