Abstract
The use of acoustic emission testing in continuous monitoring applications presents the analyst with the problem of managing substantial volumes of generated data. To better administer this information, a system has been developed to catalogue, store and process AE data. Based on a relational database, it is independent of the software and hardware used to acquire the data. This paper describes the system and how it is used. Guidance is also given on how to optimise the database for performance, robustness and ease of data extraction. Finally, examples of its data mining capabilities are also presented.
