Abstract
Transoesophageal echocardiography is an essential technique in minimally invasive mitral surgery. It provides continuous haemodynamic monitoring for the anaesthetic management and provides assistance to the surgeons during the different stages of the procedure when visibility can be limited. This paper reviews the value and role of transoesophageal echocardiography during minimally invasive mitral valve surgery.
