Abstract
Two degree of freedom structural models have been used for some time to model the low-frequency behaviour of stringed instruments. Developing a closed form method of predicting the effects of structural modification can extend the utility of these models. Analytical sensitivities can readily be developed for this purpose. This approach is described in detail and demonstrated through example problems. In particular, the effect of structural modification on the coupled air-structural modes is captured.
