Abstract
Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis is a very low incidence pathology in the intensive care unit. It involves plugging the cells by accumulation of material rich in proteins and lipids, which hinders the possibility of gas exchange at the alveolar level. The differential diagnosis is made with other infectious and inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract. We describe a case diagnosed in the intensive care unit, describe the handling and make a non-systematic review of the literature.
