Abstract

An adaptive beamforming method for the rejection of coherent and incoherent interferences is suggested which is robust against errors in the desired signal direction and does not require any information on interference directions. The weight vector of the proposed method is controlled such that it is orthogonal to an estimated interference subspace (IS), which is obtained through the signal-blocking for the removal of the desired signal. The successive repetition of the signal-blocking can greatly reduce desired signal components leaking into an estimated IS due to pointing errors, thereby providing the robustness for the proposed beamformer. The subspace estimate is simply constructed by efficiently exploiting the signal-blocked vectors, which leads to low computational complexity.
